HERDIN NeON Training at The Medical City

Today, 27th of May 2011, HERDIN NeON team trained The Medical City's Learning Resource Center. Participants of the said training session were: Anatol T. Pua, System Administrator; Mark James G. Cayabyab, Coordinator; and Loise Matinog, Research Assistant.

The training was aimed at capacitating The Medical City to establish its integrated repository of researches, institutions, and experts.  Renante Bahala, PCHRD Programmer II, discussed the overview of HERDIN NeON and the linkage between the three databases that are interwoven together in one system. Mylene Marco, Science Research Specialist I, demonstrated the actual inputting of data into the database. Joana Angostora, Science Research Specialist I, assisted the participants in making sure that they were on the same page throughout the demonstration. She also helped oversee that data were entered correctly.

5th PNHRS Week celebration to highlight innovations for better health

Health research stakeholders nationwide will meet anew on 10-12 August 2011 to celebrate the 5th Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week at the L'Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City.

Bearing the theme, "Convergence in Divergence, Innovations for better health," the three-day even is a venue for stakeholders to interact, to learn from each other, to share information and experiences, and contribute research-based solutions to health problems, among other things.

Another highlight of the event is the launching of Health Innovation Marketplace and awarding of winners for the Best Mentor Award and Poster Exhibit Contest.

World Conference on Science and Technology

The Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science (PhilAAS), in conjunction with its 60th Annual Convention, will hold the World Conference on Science and Technology on September 13-14, 2011 at the Manila Hotel.

It aims to highlight the role of science and technology in addressing global challenges; present a forum for the discussion of global issues involving science and technology; promote the interaction and networking of scientists from different disciplines towards solving global problems involving science and technology and; foster a greater concern and a more active participation of scientists and other stakeholders in global and national issues.

 The theme of the conference is "Global Networking to Meet Global Challenges". It will cover topics such as climate change, biodiversity, food security, energy security, research integrity and public understanding of science.

Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished papers on the various topics covered for presentation as posters during the conference.

Deadline of submission of abstracts for poster presentation is on July 15, 2011,while the last day of early registration is on August 1, 2011. For early registrants, the registration fee is P3,500.00 for members and P4, 000.00 for non-members.

The PhilAAS is a non-profit national organization that aims to promote and broaden the base of scientific advancement in the country.
