HERDIN NeON Team sets off training at Bulacan State University (BulSU) on 08 June 2011. Twelve (12) participants from the university attended the event, including librarians: Ms. Ruchiella Jimenez; Ms. Angie Lou Berba; Ms. Shiela Dela Cruz; Ms. Pretty Lay Abdala and Ms. Alicia Esguerra, President of PLAI-Central Luzon Region Librarians Association as well as Ms. Loida Crespo, Dean of the College of Nursing.
HERDIN NeON aims to gather all the health researches in the Philippines to develop a national repository of academic publications, specifically focused in health. Through partnership with local institutions, centralization of data can be promptly attained.
Mr. Joshua Ababa presented the overview of HERDIN NeON, mainly the association of Researches, Experts and Instituions as well as the technical aspects of the database. Ms. Mylene Marco, with the assistance of Ms. Jovy Ann Casamorin, discussed the step by step process of inputting data into the database. This was the training proper, which guided the participants in filling in the required fields for a record to be saved in HERDIN as well as on how to search records from the system.
After the discussion, certain questions were raised by the particpants, which were responded promptly by the trainers. This part of the training was subject for clarifications to avoid discredits and miscues on the system. Further discussion about technical requirements, installation, hosting, log ins and the like were also discussed.
The training session ended well, where both institutions, BulSU and PCHRD, are looking forward for the continued success and further compilation of health researches in HERDIN.
