PNHRS Consortium Awards Launched

The Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Chair of Structure/Organization Monitoring and Evaluation (SOME) Committee Dr. Juan Ma. Pablo R. Nañagas formally launched the PNHRS Consortium Awards as part of the PNHRS Week Celebration last August 14, 2008 at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Manila.

With the objectives to encourage and sustain the development of regional research communities which influence the health status of the regions by sustained engagement and capacity building of stakeholders across sectors; and to develop a framework of cooperation and interconnection of stakeholders in the regions, between regions, and within the PNHRS, the System believe that improving the framework of cooperation in the regions is seen as the key to achieving the PNHRS vision and mission.

Nominations will pass through the Selection Committee and, after an extensive evaluation process, five winners will emerge to receive a total of PhP500,000.00 in different categories, such as Best in Research Priority-setting and Implementation, Best in Research Translation, and Best in Capacity Building Strategies.

Criteria for the Award include commitment and convergence towards a common agenda and platform, presence of an active sense of community, sustainability of cooperation, outputs of the network, and governance and leadership of the network. The Award will be divided into two categories, between the Consortia which are two years old and below, and those which are more than two years old.

Deadline for the submission of entries is on or before January 31 of the year the award is to be given, with the first awarding on the 2010 PNHRS Week Celebration.

The PNHRS Consortium Award is a biennial award handled by the PNHRS Committee on Structure/Organization Monitoring and Evaluation.
