PNHRS - Philippine National Health Research System

The Philippine Statistical Association (PSA) held its Annual Conference at the Philippine Social Science Center Auditorium, in Quezon City last September 24 – 25, 2009 with a theme “Statistics in a Multidisciplinary Setting.” Dr. Juan Ma. Pablo Nañagas, chair of the Structure, Organization, Monitoring & Evaluation (SOME) Committee of the Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) introduced the PNHRS to the statistics community with his presentation “Regional Health Research and Development Councils: At the Helm of PNHRS.”  

Dr. Nanagas discussed the role of statistics in PNHRS’ achievement of its mission, the opportunities and challenges, and the possible collaboration between PNHRS and statisticians. It provides good evidence in developing responsive and effective health policies. In his last statement, Dr. Nanagas emphasized “The PNHRS hopes that statisticians, both at the regional and national levels will be our partners.”
