The Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) launched its Strategic Plan for 2023–2028 during the opening of the 18th PNHRS Week Celebration on August 13, 2025, at the Marison Hotel in Legazpi City. The event brought together PNHRS leaders, Technical Working Committees, Regional Consortia, partner institutions, and researchers.
Developed through nationwide consultations, workshops, and validation sessions, the Strategic Plan builds on lessons from previous cycles and responds to the challenges highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. It outlines two scenarios for the future of health research:
“Good to Better” – strengthening processes, capacity, and adoption of emerging technologies such as AI and genomics.
“Rising Against All Odds” – ensuring resilience and continuity of health research in times of disasters, crises, and conflicts.
Anchored on the values of Accountability, Inclusiveness, Innovativeness, Commitment, Equity, Ethics, and Synergy (AIICEES), the plan envisions a health research system that is more responsive, collaborative, and impactful for all Filipinos.
